The Childhood Leelas of Krishna: Miracles and Mischiefs

Lord Krishna, the divine trickster and the most beloved of all bhakts, is the supreme deity. While we know him as the one who always stands by his devotees, do also has a history of lovable mischiefs called “Krishna Leelas.” 

While the tales of lovely young Krishna melt people’s hearts, they do also carry the divine lessons for the devotees. His devotees today also remind his awe-struck acts, adorable innocent pranks and also the wisdom-filled actions that teach the path to righteousness and humanity. 

Delving into this blog post, we will share some of his most famous childhoods to enchant you and your mind and also the valuable lessons they impart to everyone. 

Let’s buckle up: 

1. Krishna As Makhan Chor

Who doesn’t know that Krishna loves butter and was a young Makhan Chor in Gokul? Everyone knows his love for butter and how he sneaked to people’s houses to steal butter. His butter-stealing mischiefs also used to irritate the Gopis too but at the same time they also felt charmed by his heart-capturing innocence and playfulness. 

One day, a woman caught Krishna red-handed stealing butter and in reply young Krishna said, “I was not stealing it; I was just helping you keep the butter fresh! The woman could not help but laugh with his cheeky grin. 

2. Krishna’s Miraculous Escapes 

Once Krishna’s maa Yashodha took him to a village festival. After everyone took their lunch meal, Yashodha Maiyya left Krishna to sleep under a bullock cart. After some time, he woke up listening to the sound of music and started dancing to the beats. 

While dancing, he fell off accidentally from the bullock cart and hit it’s wheel. The cart crashed to the ground but nothing hurt Krishna. It was surprising that the young boy Krishna was still dancing to the music. This incident showcases Krishna’s celestial powers and how playful he was. 

3. Maa Yashodha & Mud Eating 

Once young little Krishna was watching Gopis cleaning the vessels that they cleansed using the mud. He started to wonder if mud could clean the vessels that he should eat to clean his stomach as well. 

So, after eating mud, he filled his mouth with mud, which his friends noticed. They told it to his mother, and she asked him to open his mouth to have a look. Krishna refused to open his mouth, so Maa Yashodha told him that he would beat him with the stick if he did not obey her.

Krishna then opened his mouth and to her surprise, it was the entire universe entrapped in Krishna Ji’s mouth. She could even see Gokula clearly and herself standing in front of her child. Yashodha took note of this miracle but she kept it to herself. 

4. Krishna Leela With Tulsi Mala 

Krishna always had a great affection with Tulsi Mala. As per the traditions, it is also said that Krishna ji have personally blessed the Tulsi plant. The story behind Tulsi Mala is that one day Krishna ji met a maiden named Tulsi and after a few playful acts or exchanges, he noticed her extreme devotion towards him. 

So, he blessed her with the gift of eternal presence always in the form of the Tulsi plant. The devotees of Krishna now especially wear Tulsi Mala in remembrance of this event related to Krishna Leela with Tulsi Jap Mala

5. Damodar Krishna Leela 

Once Krishna was just over two years old and Maa Yashodha was churning Yogurt. Maa Yashodha was feeding milk to ger sweet child, suddenly she remembered that she put a pot of milk on the stove to boil which might not spil over. So, she left baby Krishna on the floor and when to remove the pot off the stove. 

Krishna got annoyed with this and suddenly he started hitting all the clay pots which contained yogurt or butter. When Maa Yashodha saw this, she grew angry and took a stick to terrify Krishna. Krishna ran and Maa Yashodha approached him but who can get the Lord? 

But seeing his mother panting for breath, Krishna slowed down. Then Yashodha Maiyya tied up him with the rope which did not join and fell short with by two fingers. 

All the ropes that Maa Yashodha brought got short with just two fingers. At last, a silk lace sent by Radha Rani tied Krishna to the motor wheel from where the Natkhat Krishna was entitled with the name of Damodar. 

6. Krishna’s Dance On Serpent Kaliya’s Head

One day, Krishna dove into Yamuna River, when the serpent Kaliya was haunting the villagers. Krishna, to protect the beloved villagers, without thinking a second just jumped on the serpent’s heads and begin dancing. 

The serpent was powerless in front of Krishna and his playful steps. The serpent, not being able to do anything, simply escaped. After that, the Kaliya who had been terrorizing the land, was now with Krishna’s mercy muted.

Krishn stories or childhood leelas have never left a chance to amuse us in different ways. Some tricks of Baby Krishna fill our hearts with love and emotions while some pranks of him keep us laughing.
